Miss Hammill's Story Time - this week she is reading 'The Princess and the Wizzard ' by Julia Donaldson

Due to the covid 19 lockdown we have had to change our plans for Bee Week but we still want to celebrate World Bee Day on the 20th May 2020 and Miss Doeman (and her mummy) have been very busy making Busy Bees which can be seen all around the school. Please click on the play button below to take the virtual tour of our busy bees!

Friday 22nd May

Miss Doeman captured this slow motion video of a bee collecting nectar from a poppy growing in her garden. If you listen carefully you can hear the sound of the bee's wings!

I wanted to share this video with my teachers and friends. I have been enjoying learning about bees this week. We found a tired bee in our bathroom and offered him some honey and water. He spent half an hour with us before flying away.

We have been concentrating on direct speech and punctuation this week.
We chose a photograph and made speech bubbles before turning into direct speech. The Gingerbread man investigation and the Florence Nightingale work was really enjoyable. Helping my sister with segmenting and blending words was also great fun and we loved the nature hunt.

I took part in Rob Biddilph's https://www.artworldrecords.com/ online art class with my brother and drew a blue whale.

Tuesday 19th May

Today we focused on our artwork section of home learning. We had already completed fact files on various artists and decided to paint a favourite piece of artwork by Picasso. Keeping with the the art theme we also also created a finger painting of the hungry caterpillar, all the colours depict the food that the caterpillar ate on his journey!
