Year 2 Seasonal Change Morning with the Rothschild Educational Department
It was great to welcome the Rothschild Education Department to Godfield and what a fantastic morning we shared exploing the wild meadow and nature area during Autumn. The experts from the Rothschild Education Department showed us how to use beat sheets and sweep nets before deonstrating the safe way to collect insects using a spoon and bug pot. We split into groups and chose a tree in the meadow area, photogrpahed and identified the tree and collected a leaf or berry. As the seasons change we will record the effects to the tree and surrounding area. We used the beat sheets and nets to collected insects and flora/fauna from the area beneath our chosen tree then identifed and recorded them in our topic books.
In the nature area we chose a log and carefully moved and photograph it. We identified any minibeasts living in that habitat and looked at leaf litter around the log. It was great fun being nature detectives!
A huge to everyone from the Rothschild Educational Depatment we have had such fun exploring and learning about our outside environment in Autumn.
Also a huge to all our wonderful parent helpers who have joined us today you have heped to make it such a success!
