Scientists have ideas, they experiment and tell people what they have learnt. Let's have fun being Scientists!
Our first experiment was to add vitamin tablets to a liquid.
The liquid was water.
A chemical reaction took place immediately. The vitamin tablet dissolved, the liquid changed colour and started to bubble. You could hear the fizz as the vitamin tablets dissolved
Let's try to make some carbonate dioxide. We will need a funnel, a measure of bicarbonate of soda (baking powder), a flask with a measured amount of white vinegar and a balloon.
Place the balloon over the small end of the funnel.
Carefully pour the powder into the balloon.
Take the balloon off the funnel and carefully place it over the flask containing the vinegar.
Now tip up the balloon so the powder falls into the vinegar. Sit back and watch what happens.
Can you hear anything?
Mad Science that was another amazing workshop!
