Business visit to Rennie Grove Hospice Care
Rennie Grove Hospice Care are a charity that provides care and support for poorly adults and children diagnosed with serious life-limiting illness. Every year they provide 24/7 care to patients and their families giving them the choice to receive healthcare and support at home, surrounded by their families and friends. The is one of the USP's (unique selling point) another is that they are local to Hertforshire and Bedforshire.
In order to provide this care Rennie Grove relies on the generosity of people to fund their annual running costs, an amount that increases every year. During our visit we met a team of colleagues in the offices to find out how they provide specialist care and support as well as organise events to raise funds. £27,000 is needed every day to run the business.
Money is raised in Charity shops and on ebay. In Tring we have two Iain Rennie Charity Shops, one for books and one with assorted goods. Donated goods are also sold on Iain Rennie ebay online shop.
When you are feeling poorly one of the best places to be is at home with all your special things around you, your family, friends, pets etc. Rennie Grove Nurses are able to visit families at home any time day or night. They are always just a phone call away. They bring all of their specialist equipment with them, things that can make a real diference to how a person is feeling for example a chillow which can help you to cool down if you feel very hot and sticky.
If you can arrange an event at school like a non-uniform day you can fund a nurse for a day!
Earlier in the year Goldfield raised funds for Rennie Grove by supporting the Rennie Groovy Shoes Day. We wore our funkiest footware and donated £1 to Rennie Grove Hospice Care. A new fund raising initiative is being launched by Rennie Grove this winter. It is a 'Rudolf Run' for example you could come to school wearing your Rudolf antlers and donate £1 to Rennie Grove Hospice Care. Would Goldfield like to help Rennie Grove again by raising funds?
Next we met some of the people that work in the offices and learn what they do and use for their jobs, starting with fundraising event organisers.
With fundraising money arriving all the time from events, Rennie Grove need a team of finance specialists and some very clever machines to help sort and count the money.
We have really enjoyed learning about your business. It has been fantastic to meet everyone especially Rennie Bear and to give him a cuddle!
