Business visit to the Natural History Museum Tring

My Money March Business Visit to Tring Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum at Tring was the private museum of Lionel Walter Rothschild, 2nd Baron Rothschild; today it is part of the Natural History Museum. During our visit we learnt about the business side of the museum.

The government wanted to make entrance to the museum free for visitors so they give the Natural History Museum in Tring and London an amount of money to run their business.

Extra money is raised through donations to the museum, sales in the shop and cafe, showing films in the Vintage Cinema, by having parties and weddings and even sleep overs. Money is also raised in the Museum's Research Department.

Money is needed to cover the cost of running the museum, this includes money to pay the staff, cleaning expenses, the cost of all the equipment and stationery, to cover the upkeep of the building, utilities (water, electricity etc.), to keep the exhibits looking their best and much more.

Entrance to the museum is free but visitors are asked to make a donation of £2 per person. This donation request box is rather special as it treats you to a mechanical show of moving animals around Walter Rothschild as he sits at his desk.

In the museum's entrance there is a special case were visitors can leave donations.

We were keen to find out if the museum had a usp? (unique selling point) - Yes they do, it's their amazing collection of animals! The museum attracts over 150,000 visitors a year and between 500 to 1,500 visitors a day. Visitors enjoy spending money in the shop and cafe.
