Business visit to High Street Baptist Church
High Street Baptist Church are a totally inclusive church that has a warm welcome for everybody. They are a registered charity and raise money to help other people both locally and in other countries. They believe a church is not just for Sundays, and have lots of midweek activities for people in the community including toddler groups, youth groups, games groups, Friday Cafe etc. In order to provide these services the church relies on money; to keep the building running, to pay staff, and to run activities. Most of this money comes from the weekly offerings/donations of those attending church on Sunday morning; but not all of it. Some is raised by hiring the space to other groups, and by charging for some of the activities it provides for example lunches. Volunteers are also essential to sucessfully provide these activities and services and they have lots of them.
We have enjoyed learning about the business side of the church and the way money is raised to provide services for the local community as well people in other countries.
