We are going to create a seaside mosaic with holes to peep through when we are outside. Please scroll down to see how the mosaic was made and then placed in the outside playground. Enjoy a few photographs of the children peeking through at the very end of the page.
Our first task is to sand the edges of the board.
Some children designed and made a small tile to place on the mosaic.
Groups of children also worked collaboratively to create larger tiles for the mosaic.
As the day progressed the small tiles were mixed in with the big tiles and place on the board. It was amazing to see how the scene was taking shape.
Our seaside mosaic is really looking great but there is still lot's more work to be done. The sky needs to be painted and the small and large tiles need to be fixed onto the board with grout so keep watching this space for the latest photographs and news of the projects unveiling!
The finished seaside mosaic has been joined by some mosaic paving designed and made by our reception classes. What a fantastic addition they will make to our outdoor areas. Next step is to give them a protective coat of silicone before securing them into position.
Our seaside mosaic can now be found in the outdoor area and the children have already been peeking through the peep holes.
