Martin and David came to show us how to make apple juice. We had a whole school assembly then split into class groups to chop, press and taste our lovely Goldfield Apples!

First the apples are cut with this special tool.

This tool is amazing it cores, peels and slices the apple just by turning the handle.

A long time ago people would hang the sliced apple spirals in windows so that they could dry out, enabling apple slices to be available during the winter.

This machine is used to finely chop the apples before pressing.

The blades at the bottom cut the apples when the wheel is turned. The chopped apple falls into the bucket underneath.

Carefully pour in the apples and turn the wheel.

The chopped apple is poured into the press. Turn the wheel and the apple juice is pressed out into a jug underneath.

The lining will stop any pips, peel etc. from going into the apple juice.
