  • Ask your children to show how they use their mobile devices, games consols, home computers etc.
  • Talk about sharing information. What is safe to share? What should you not share? Never tell anyone your password, name, address, school name etc.
  • Etiquette, promote good online behavior and manners.
  • If you are playing games online with your friends make up a nick name and get your friends to do the same. Only play with the friends you know.
  • Talk about senarios - What would you do if something goes wrong?
  • Teach and encourage children to make phone calls to their friends, there are times when it is better to speak to someone rather than sending text messages.
  • Use age appropriate games/apps, even when visiting family and friends
  • Set parental controls at home
  • Manage your children’s digital devices
  • Control when your child uses the internet as they get older
  • Set times for using mobile devices, games consols, home computers etc. Not for long periods of time, keep meal times devise free, enjoy devise free times before bedtime our eyes and brain need to relax before we sleep.
